Cashew Nut Grove
The Second project after the initial food delivery, was FIVE HECTARES some FOUR HUNDRED PLUS Cashew trees. These will come into crop after four years and will continue to provide Co2 processing year on year for 30yrs or more. Planting will continue to as much land as can be provided to support Cashew nuts. The nuts will be sold when the trees mature, providing a substantial income to Kerr Layen improving the outcomes for the whole village and providing for other much needed services. Education, Medical, Infrastructure. This first Cashew planting was completed in Autumn 2022. Cashew will continue to be planted on available land with a potential for many thousands of trees. The village continues to manage the trees themselves and has a nursery plantation bringing on the next planting out.
For KERR LAYEN AND ALL OF US these first 400 trees when mature will process a huge of Co2 in their lifetime, so each year just 30 trees will absorb a ton or more Co2 PER YEAR.
